School of Day 1

A pop-up school from Singapore that focuses on the delivery of timely, actionable, and relevant support to youths in the community who are ready to take the first important step towards realising their ambitions, aspirations, and the next phase of their personal life journeys.

The School's programme design features include:

(1) Micro Mentoring - running shorter but equally impactful mentoring sessions

(2) Bite-sized Content & Delivery - providing information that can be easily consumed

(3) Application Integration - incorporating a mandatory application component

(4) Strategic Timing - holding sessions at pivotal milestones throughout the year

Founder

Mohd Matin Mohdari

Matin is presently the Head of Public Policy, Government, and Corporate Affairs for Expedia Group in Southeast Asia and South Asia. In this role, he provides strategic counsel on tech policy topics, and works closely with the public sector to support legislative developments at the nexus of travel and technology. His previous experience includes a stint in public service with the Singapore Tourism Board, and a tenure at the technology company, Grab, as its Deputy Director for Public Affairs and Policy. He was also seconded to the Tech for Good Institute to be part of the founding team as its Strategy Director. Matin is an ASEAN Youth Fellow, Singapore Global Leaders Network 2025 Fellow, and a Board member of several local charities and committees in Singapore.

Partnerships Lead

Sharmishta

Sharmishta is a proud global Singaporean who was raised across the Middle East, North America, Europe, South and Southeast Asia. An experienced corporate strategy and public policy professional, she considers herself a chameleon of sorts, ultimately committed to empowering communities through education and strengthening public-private cooperation. Prior to her current role as a strategy consultant at EY-Parthenon, Sharmishta served in the Government of Singapore as well as worked at organisations committed to public impact such as the World Economic Forum, Asian Development Bank and the United Nations. 

An active youth leader, Sharmishta serves as Head of the SINDA Youth Club's Young Adults Community and holds several other leadership appointments in Singapore-based and global organizations.

Digital and Content Lead

We're looking for an interested volunteer!

This role involves the development and execution of our digital and content strategy to ensure that the work of School of Day 1 gets socialised and promoted amongst the youth community through owned and partner channels. Individuals who have an eye for creativity and are deeply passionate about all things, brand, marketing, content, and social media are invited to apply!

    Programmes Lead

    Zulhilmi Zainal

    Zulhilmi Zainal is a finance professional with experience in investment banking and private wealth management, having worked at UBS and Goldman Sachs. He has managed client accounts and portfolios while overseeing risk controls and ensuring regulatory compliance. Outside of work, Zulhimi is an active youth mentor and community organiser with Yayasan Mendaki.

    Operations Lead

    Celeste Beh

    Celeste Beh is the Recruiting Operations Manager at Expedia Group, where she leads a global team of Recruitment Program Specialists to drive the company’s Talent Acquisition strategy and long-term operational success. She also serves as the Global Partnerships Chair for Expedia’s Disability Inclusion Business Group, championing workplace accessibility and equity. Previously, Celeste was a Foreign Service Officer in the Human Resources Directorate at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on performance management.

    Volunteer Engagement Lead

    We're looking for an interested volunteer!

    This role involves building and nurturing a vibrant community of volunteers. You will be responsible for onboarding, and supporting volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, connected, and empowered to contribute meaningfully to our mission. This role combines people-centered engagement with strategic coordination to create a strong support system that fuels our ground-up efforts at School of Day 1!
